Pumpkin Picking!

Today was a very long and eventful day, but it was nevertheless a very good one. That's because, my mother and I went to Burt's Pumpkin farm in the north Georgia mountains. It's kind of a tradition in my family. Every year near Halloween, we drive all the way up to the mountains to select our pumpkins. It's really nice to take in the sights.

On the way up, I took some pictures of the scenery. I just wanted to show everyone how beautiful it is there.  Burnt Mountain was the name of the mountain we were on.

Sharp Top Mountain in the distance

We arrived to Burt's Pumpkin Farm, and it was extremely crowded. I expected as much since it is close to Halloween. There were many cute children dressed up in spooky finery like little petticoats, striped leggings, witch hats, etc.

so...many...pumpkins

Yes, the pumpkins really are this enormous.

I definitely had my fair share of exercise today with hauling around pumpkins and pushing the wheelbarrow up steep hills. I'd do it any day, because this place is great!

On the way back, we stopped at a tractor supply company to look at some cowboy boots. I'll tell you, they had some pretty bad ass cowboy boots. Some of you might be rolling your eyes...but leather? Pointy toes? Rugged look? What's not to love! Maybe it's just the southern in me. There was pair with lace on it with a leather overlay. I tried it on, but my foot was stuck when I tried to yank off the boot. It turns out, I needed a boot jack to get it off. This was the first time I tried on cowboy boots, so I had no idea about boot jacks.

This, my friends, is a boot jack. Yes, they are necessary.
While I was there, I purchased an Outback hat that I've been eyeing for a while. It reminds me of Carl McCoy <3 (Fields of the Nephilim).

Aw yeah. This hat's the shit if I say so myself.

After I got back home, I prepared for tonight's ghost tour. Here's what I wore:

Good evening, everyone. May your holiday be sufficiently creepy.

  1. That is a spectacular outfit! That hat is all kinds of awesome.

I love cowboy boots as well, but never found a pair that love me back... just yet =P

Pumpkin picking is the greatest, and that place looks like a wonderful place to do it.

  2. Thank you! Did you know New Rock sells cowboy boots? They're pretty cool looking. Oh, it is wonderful. A family tradition. We've been going to Burt's since I was a toddler.

  3. I love the outfit and hat! :)

The mountains are so pretty there...and those pumpkins...o.0 Wish we had some that size in Australia.

Lol, boot jack. I had to use one once before while trying to get a boot off. It was a nice black 'cowboy' like one, not quite but similar. :D

Also I used a thing called a 'shoe horn' to get me out of another pair of 'too small' shoes xD

    1. It's so funny that things like boot jacks and shoe horns are completely necessary. haha I'd love to go back for some boots they had there, but they're so expensive. I may have to order some online.

  4. I can't wait to get my pumpkin! Usually we go to a similar place called Rock Creek Farms where they have acres and acres of pumpkins. This year we might have to go to Walmart though because Rock Creek is so far away and Halloween is so close! Your hat is very bad ass! And I am still insanely jealous of your job.

    1. If you o decide to go to Rock Creek Farms, post pictures please! I'm very privileged to have the job that I have. Memorizing the 20 page script was definitely worth it. Maybe there's a town near you that does ghost tours. If there is, it never hurts to ask about a job. That's what I did. :)

DIY Moon Patch

Sometimes, I get the inexplicable desire to paint patches. This time, I had an image of the moon phases in my head. The next thing I knew, I was pinning the patch on to the back of my jean vest. I was very pleased with how it turned out. What do you think? In progress The finished product

Dragon Con 2012

This year was my first time going to Dragon Con. Although it was exhausting, I had a great time. I definitely plan on going again next year. Me and Justean She's feeling zombified. Justean, I think you need medical attention. Getting strangled by my demon friend.  I had to. haha I tried on two authentic steel boned corsets. I originally wanted the underbust (since they're versatile), but the overbust looks really good too.  I'd like to order one for birthday or Christmas. Which one do you guys like better on me?  or I did a lot of shopping, but I didn't actually buy anything. :(  However, I did get some cool pictures. The Goblin King!   Dr. Rockzos (Metalocalypse) I'm not sure who it's supposed to be, but I thought it was very interesting. Guess What! I shook Nelsan Ellis' (Lafeyette from Trueblood's hand)! I love the show (I've only watched up to the 3rd season so far), and Lafayette is my favorite characte...

My Aunt's Victorian House

I spent this weekend at my Aunt's house. I figured since I had a school assignment at an observatory near her house, that I'd spend the night while I was out there. She lives in a lovely Victorian house that is filled with antiques and Halloween decorations. They even say it's haunted. (They had me sleep in the "haunted" room, but I didn't see any ghosts. :/). I took some pictures of the house while I was there. Below, is just a portion of the Halloween decorations they keep. Around Halloween time, they go all out to decorate. I'm not kidding. My Aunt was even born on Halloween, and she's the one who really fueled my love of spooky things during my childhood.  This is an antique baby carriage they keep in front of my cousin's room.  This table is in the front parlor. I thought it was beautiful, and the witchy sign is a nice touch. This beauty is probably my favorite thing in the house. It was an antique organ that came from a ve...
