Ladies in Black Theme Post: Spirit

This Ladies in Black theme post is "inspired by a song."  I was having a little trouble at first, I have to admit. I was combing through some old files, and I remembered that I once wrote a little poem inspired by the song, "Spirit" by Bauhaus. I love the song, and I had it stuck in my head for ages until I came up with my own poem that has a similar rhythm to the song.


Now normally I don't share my writing online, but this is an exception. It was inspired sleep paralysis that I used to endure often. I find it to be great fuel for writing. Here you go. It's called 'My Silver Noose' It's not my best work, but I like it. I hope whoever reads this finds it enjoyable as well. 

My Silver Noose

Will tonight I be a puppet
Hanging from a thread
With dead eyes thrashing violently,
My vessel weighted lead?

Will you be with me,
Plain for me to see?
My dry eyes struck with terror
From a shadow over me.

You’re choking out the moon.

As you move closer,
Standing by my bed,
You sway slowly, peering down,
Leaning towards my head.

May I reach out and touch you,
Or breathe you in and swoon?
Will I cut these silver strings of mine
And hang you from the moon?

Beware my silver noose.

    Wow nice writing!

    You really do have a talent there, I'm normally not so much into poetry, but that's actually really cool! :D

Why I Still Use CD's

Second Wave Compilation, Talking Heads, and SOM all purchased at a used book store Are CD's obsolete? With all of this digital downloading, most people don't even bother with them. Even vinyls (which are technically obsolete) have a vintage charm which CD's currently lack. I have a friend who jokes, "It's 2013. Who listens to CD's anymore?" while knowing full well that I still buy them. It might seem that I have luddite tendencies--I don't use an e reader either. However, I can make some very good arguments for purchasing CD's. Buying your music on compact disks nowadays is really cheap, especially if you know where to look. Depeche Mode Concert

Last night, Depeche Mode came to town. After a long week and much time spent looking forward to this, I'm glad to say I was in attendance. Justean and I ventured off to the venue with little incident this time (meaning not getting horribly lost like before). When we arrived, we noticed what a broad spectrum of fans Depeche Mode reached. There were a lot of drunken middle aged people, but besides that, there was a range of alternative types as well as more mainstream looking people. One thing is for sure that most everyone seemed excited to be there. In fact, at one point, I almost got in an altercation with a couple who was so excited, they decided to squeeze right in front of me and cut me off! Let's just say I got them to vacate my vicinity.  It was a great night for a concert. The moon shone brightly, and looming rain clouds dissipated. DIY Nose Chain

For those of you who've been trying to hunt down a nose chain, you probably know that they're difficult to find. Even online , there isn't a big selection. The ones I've found at a local Indian mall were pretty, but they weren't exactly what I was looking for. I finally decided it would be easier to make my own.  What you need: Any kind of necklace chain (preferably lightweight) Nose ring (you can also make a lip chain if you have a lip ring.) Earring Hook Metal loops (You might be able to find a couple on your necklace) Jewelry pliers (I used regular pliers, but it's a lot more difficult.) How To Make It: Measure out the length you want your nose chain. Using the  pliers, separate the chain to your desired length. Take the piece you need, and attach both ends to  the bigger metal loops.
